PARALYMPICS WINTER GAMES TORINO 2006

Following the competitions of the Winter Olympics 2006, the IX Paralympics Winter Games will take place from March 10 – 19, 2006 in Torino, Italy. Six hundred athletes with disabilities from 41 countries will compete in the four disciplines Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, Ice-sledge hockey and as new addition to the Paralympics programme - Wheelchair curling.

For the first time all sports of the Torino 2006 Paralympics Winter Games can be seen world-wide via Internet television channel at www.paralympicsport.tv

FIMITIC present at the European Day of Disabled People 2005 Conference in Brussels

In line with the International Day of Disabled Persons in 1993 the European Commission started to organise in cooperation with the European Disability Forum the European Day of Disabled People.

Developing Anti-discrimination Law in Europe: The EU 25 comparison

In many European countries the anti-discrimination regulations did undergo an examination or change during the past years. How these guidelines are enforced in the 25 Member States is presented in the individual national country reports. On the basis of these national reports the European Network of Legal Experts in the Non-Discrimination field commissioned by the European Commission under the framework of its Action Programme to combat discrimination (2001-2006) published a comparative analysis of the anti-discrimination laws of the Member States.

“Rights of People with Disabilities: Action in development”

the International Federation of Persons with Physical Disability – FIMITIC –

is calling to all involved in disability related policy, systems and decision making processes that efforts on national and international level shall be undertaken to strengthen programmes, policies and strategies with practical steps in promotion of equal opportunities of human rights and participation in society, to make stronger commitment to implementation of the international human rights instruments and to increase public awareness of these issues.

Marija-Lidija Stiglic awarded the FIMITIC Gold Badge

Bonn, October 2005 - The International Federation of Persons with Physical Disability – FIMITIC – is pleased to announce that the highest FIMITIC Award, the Gold Badge, is presented recently to Marija-Lidija Stiglic, the former President and Secretary General for many years, contributing directly to the FIMITIC disability movement.

Marija-Lidija Stiglic is also nominated Honorary President of FIMITIC on the occasion.

Procap Switzerland - an effective presentation example

In the frame of the FIMITIC Delegates´ Conference 2005 on October 06, 2005 in Nottwil the delegates were invited by the host FIMITIC member association procap Switzerland to attend a power point presentation on its organizational structure, activity and aims. The offered presentation was received very favourably by the participants.

Welcome to the new FIMITIC member association in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

Bonn, March 1, 2005 - The Association of Physically Disabled Persons of Macedonia (Sojuz na Telesno Invalidiziranite Lica na Makedonija - STILM -), Skopje, at the last FIMITIC Executive Board meeting in Budapest earlier this year was unanimously admitted new full member.FIMITIC is looking forward to a fruitful co-operation with STILM !
