The ceremony with reception offered by the Municipality of Rome was attended by representatives of 15 FIMITIC member countries. Addresses at this marking fiftieth year event were given by Mr. Giovanni Pagano, the National President of the FIMITIC´s Italian member association ANMIC (National Association of Disabled and Civil Invalids), Mr. Marjan KrofliÄ, Vice-President, FIMITIC, and Mrs. Ileana Argentin, the responsible person in charge of the policy of disabled people in Rome.
The International Federation of Persons with Physical Disability - FIMITIC -, created in 1953, is a Non-Governmental human rights umbrella federation of representative national organisations throughout Europe.
FIMITIC does focus its activities on ensuring equalization of opportunities and full participation of persons with physical disabilities.
FIMITIC has advisory status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, the Council of Europe and is registered on the International Labour Office Special List.
FIMITIC is full member of the European Disability Forum - EDF -.
