SLOVAK REPUBLIC - Universal Design and Accessibility and Education in ICT for people with disability on the core agenda

The member association in Slovakia, the Slovak Union of Physically Disabled - SZTP - does attach great importance to the issue of Universal design and accessibility and thus monitoring and lobbying the concept on environment friendly policy.A good example is shown by the submitted contribution on tourist facilities entitled “Some new trends in the social tourism in Slovak Republic”.

Further facilities of self-government, health and education are initiated as well.

Another survey presented at the Conference on Social Tourism in Rome, Italy, in 2006 and published by the Slovak Ministry of Culture on “Results of monitoring of accessibility of Slovak museums for people with physical disability” in this connection is a very useful information for disabled visitors to Slovakia.

One of the priority tasks, which the Slovak Union of physically disabled is dealing with as well is the project work on “Education in ICT for people with disability”, initiated for the improved integration of disabled people into the labour market.

Projects, supported by the European Social Fund – ESF – are launched aiming to support computer literacy and other skills.
