Commission adopts Lisbon Strategy recommendations to build a lasting recovery

On 28 January, the Commission adopted its recommendations under the Lisbon Growth and Jobs Strategy. The report includes country chapters which aim at providing guidance to Member States. The recommendations also seek to ensure that the European Economic Recovery Plan adopted last December will help respond to the economic crisis.

The country chapters analyse progress in each Member State in implementing the Growth and Jobs Strategy, taking account of the crisis. The report includes formal recommendations that will be proposed for endorsement by the Spring European Council. The Commission has also adopted reports on the overall implementation of the Lisbon Strategy in the macro and micro-economic and employment fields.
