Resolution on the terrorism attacks on March 11th in Madrid

RESOLUTION ON THE TERRORISM ATTACKS ON MARCH 11 IN MADRID
 
At its Annual General Assembly, 15 May 2004 in Warsaw, the European Disability Forum, the European umbrella organisation representing the interests of 50 million disabled people in the wider European Union, on the suggestion of the Spanish National Council, CERMI, adopts the following:

  1. Vigorously condemns the savage massacre committed on 11 March 2004 in Madrid, causing tens of deaths

The celebration of the Enlargement of the European Union was the focus of this year’s EDF Annual General Assembly in the Warsaw Marriott Hotel.  For the first time a capital of a new Member State of the EU thus was the AGA meeting venue.

Name

COUNCIL OF EUROPE adopts resolution on Universal Design

On the 12th of December 2007 a resolution on Universal Design was adopted by the Council of Europe. EDF was represented in the working group drafting the resolution throughout the negotiations.

Madrid Conference on Women and Disability – an important step towards gender equality within the European disability movement

The EDF (European Disability Forum) and CERMI (Spanish National Disability Council) Conference on Women and Disability took place in Madrid on November 16-18, 2007.

With more than 150 participants, representing almost all EDF national councils (23 out of 27) and a large number of full and ordinary ENGOs, the EDF/CERMI conference on women and disability can be considered a success.

European Parliament of Disabled People

The European Parliament was host of the Disabled People´s Parliament Event held on November 10-11, 2003 at the European Parliament Hemicycle in Brussels. The Event was marking the 10th Anniversary of the UN Standard Rules and the European Year of Disabled People 2003.
The event was organized in co-operation with the European Commission and the European Disability Forum - EDF -.300 delegates and observers representing the disability movement from 28 European countries under attendance of many Members of the European Parliament - MEPs - took part in this unique Event.

Joint European Conference on "Education and life-long learning"

Thessalonica, 1-3 March 2003 - As part of the European Year of People with Disabilities 2003, The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European Disability Forum (EDF) organized the Joint European Conference o­n "Education and life-long learning" in the period between 1-3 March 2003 in Salonica (Greece).
