The campaign led by organizations of people with disabilities in Slovenia to include 'disability' into Article 14 of the Slovene Constitution has successfully been finished!

Human rights are by all means a constitutional category in the Republic of Slovenia. In the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia (Official Journal of RS, No. 33/1991) Article 14 of Chapter 2 (Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms) lays down that to everyone are ensured equal human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Mr. Bengt Lindqvist, UN Special Rapporteur on Disability, Former M.P. and Cabinet Minister, Sweden was visited Slovenia in November as a guest of the Slovenian Government.

ZDIS campaign - (proposal for the amendment of Article 14)

Federation of Disabled Workers of Slovenia / Zveza delovnih invalidov Slovenije is going to continue campaign together with other disabled organizations of Slovenia to change and add "disability" in to change article 14 of the Constitution to protect citizens from discrimination and that one possibility would be to include disability as one of the target areas.

The campaign is supported by European Disability Forum and Mr. Bengt Lindqvist, UNO Special Rapporeteur on Disability.
