As part of the PROGRESS programme, which supports national activities raising awareness of discrimination and promoting equality, the Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (RADAR) has published a handbook and DVD in the UK on the Disability Equality Duty. This legislative tool requires that public authorities actively promote the equality of disabled people when carrying out their functions. It lays down specific legal responsibilities, including the elimination of discrimination and harassment and the need to take account of a disabled person's disabilities.
27/04/2010 - Within the framework of the EU PROGRESS programme supporting national activities for the detection of good practice in fighting discrimination and the promotion of equality the Ludwig Boltzmann society - institute for human rights (BIM), Vienna has published a manual (in German) about the practical implementation of measures for the fight against structural discriminations and for supporting equality.
In Banjaluka, the second largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovinia, employees in the Institute for Dystrophics are on hunger strike, following a row over job losses. Employees blame management for the situation. The Institute faces bankruptcy and residents are threatened with life on the streets without jobs and without a place to live.
Tuesday, 23 February 2010 - Slovenia is in the process of adopting the Law on Alignment of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities. The deadline for public debate and suggestions expired in January 2010.

Friday, October 9, 2009. An Open Letter, signed by Hungarian and European human rights and disability organisations, was today sent to Hungary's Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai and the Minister of Social Affairs László Herczog. The letter protests against the Hungarian Government's proposals - Measures 3.4.1 and 3.4.2 of the Social Infrastructure Operational Programme - that will permit the building and refurbishment of institutions for people with intellectual disabilities and mental health problems using EU Structural Funds.

On Friday, 22nd of August 2008 the Local Council of Arad City gathered to a festive meeting on the occasion of the Days of Arad 2008, in order to confer distinctions to personalities with extraordinary achievements in the social and art domains. The Diplomas were given by the Mayor of Arad City- Mr.Gheorghe Falcă and the two Vice-Mayors – Mr. Ovidiu Marian and Mr. Levente Bognar.
To this event have been invited local officials, representatives of different religions and official representatives of twinned cities from: Gyula (Hungary) and Zrenjanin (Serbia) as well as Her Excellency the Ambassador of Romania in Hungary.
The Title PRO Urbe was given post-mortem to Mrs. Monica Antoci for her extraordinary activities for the protection of persons with disabilities.
