The new elected President: Miguel Angel García Oca

On 19 September 2009 Miguel Angel García Oca was elected as President of FIMITIC on the occasion of the FIMITIC Delegates´ Conference in Spa Topolsica, Slovenia.

Miguel Angel García Oca is currently the President of Predif (Representative Platform of People with Physical Disabilities) and the President of Aspaym Madrid (Asociation of People with Spinal Cord Injury), both in Spain. He is also member of the Spanish National Disability Council of Persons with Disabilities and a member of the board of directors of CERMI (Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilties). His extensive experience in this field has led him to fight to achieve the implementation of the rights of people with disabilties.

His vision for the the future work of FIMITIC lies in:

  • The dissemination the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilties, so that all countries sign the protocol
  • The promotion of independent living in the community
  • The exchange of information between associations so as to know the reality about social and health services
  • The promotion of employment so that all people with disabilities can have equal access to jobs and salaries

The following were also elected to the FIMITIC Executive Board:

  • Dr. Csaba Chikan - Vice President (Hungary)
  • Chrysis I. Michaelides - Vice President (Cyprus)
  • Walter Kälin - Treasurer (Switzerland)

  • Dr. Klaus Voget (Austria)
